We were proud to sponsor the first F3J contest in Southern California in many many years. Actually we can't even remember the last F3J event in So Cal.
This event was made possible by the hard work of Tuan Lee.
The contest was held in Perris California very close to one of the preeminent Sky Diving Locations in California. Conditions were great throughout most of the event. Early morning rounds were held in light fluffy air providing fairly easy 10 minute max's. Mid day rounds saw nice lift rolling through under beautiful Southern California sun shine. Late afternoon rounds saw winds picking up but very manageable on Saturday, most pilots were able to hook into some wave lift to get there 10 minute rounds.
Sunday was almost a copy of Saturday with slightly higher temps, but the afternoon winds really picked up for the fly off rounds. Some brave fly off pilots ventured very far downwind to the limit's of their vision to get the 15 minute rounds.
It was a fantastic event and we were able to introduce some Thermal Duration contest pilots to the excitement of F3J. We think they enjoyed the teamwork and added challenges that F3J involves.
Planning has already started for next years event and Flight Comp will be there again to support out local pilots and friends.
